Friendship Sunday-Service, Lunch & Fellowship
Posted: 02/21/08 at 4:01 AM
Coming up in the month of March we are going to host "Friendship Sunday" (Mar. 16) at the 10:30 a.m. service. This is a great time to bring your friends who have never known the Savior or who are looking for a church home. The Bible says in Proverbs 11:30 "he who wins souls is wise." We have to constantly be aware of those around us who are in need of a Savior. As Christians we can't get so caught up in the daily affairs of our lives that we forget to share our faith with our neighbor's, the check out clerk, etc. March 16 is going to be an incredible day to share God's love. We are asking the entire church family to bring a covered dish for a church-wide supper fellowship after service. The TLCF family will have the joy of blessing our visitors with a meal. Please plan on your family attending and BRING A FRIEND. Even if you are unable to bring a friend, please attend and introduce yourself to all of our new friends. Sign up for a covered dish, the list is on the Information Table in the church lobby. Church will supply the beverages. After the service, our youth and children's departments will supply games on the front lawn at Lynn Lucas. Come dressed comfortably, hope to see you there!
Shining His Light together, Ava

Bring a Friend Sept. 9
Posted: 08/10/07 at 8:21 AM
We want to encourage you to bring a friend on Sunday September 9, 2007. The Bible has a few things to say about friendship. Jesus stated in John 15:13-15 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you." Just as Jesus sacrificed his time and ultimately His life, we also need to lay down our desires (busy schedules) to reach out to our relatives, neighbors and co-workers. We all know of a neighbor or grocery store clerk that the Lord has placed on our hearts. Pastor & I encourage you to take the step of faith and share the Good News with them. This Sunday (8/12) we will have a hand-out on how to share the plan of salvation. Many times we are to reach out to that friend who knows the Lord, but is depressed or discouraged and just needs to get on the right path. We encourage you to share your faith and life and if they do not have a church home, invite them September 9th for our Friend Day. It is every Christian's responsibility to share their faith. (Matt 28:19) Ask the Father for a special opportunity to share yours today! Keep Shining His Light! For the Kingdom, Ava Bates (blog 8/10/07)

Don't Be Found Ashamed
Posted: 01/11/07 at 11:25 AM
Philippians 1:20 Paul states, "according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death." Nobody likes to have reason to be ashamed. Yet we all probably have concealed areas of our life that would bring us shame if it were exposed. We tend to hide our sin, failures and weaknesses so that we do not need to face the shame it may bring. The problem is that we cannot hide anything from God. God is the one that we should be most concerned about when it comes to being exposed. Hebrews 4:13 states, "there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." So, how do we prevent being ashamed before God? The first thing we must do is confess our sins and repent (1 John 1:9). Once we are in right standing with our Father in heaven we must continue to live a life that pleases Him. There are three things we can do to prevent being ashamed. First, have no excuses. People say things like "I'm only human" or "I have one weakness." On order to have "nothing" to be ashamed of we need to strive to correct and be clean in all areas of our life. Second, we must know our responsibilites. 2 Timothy tell us to, "be diligent to present ourselves approved to God." We have a responsibility to study the Word of God and learn how to live a life approved by God. Thirdly, we need to let Christ be magnified in our lives. Galations 2:20 says that, as Christians, our lives should no longer by guided by our own flesh but it should be guided by Christ living in our spirit. When we live by our own rules we will be ashamed. So, let Christ rule, learn your responsibilities and make no excuses so that in nothing you should be found ashamed.

Joy to the World - Pastor Ron's blog
Posted: 12/21/06 at 5:32 PM
A phrase that is not limited to the Christmas season is taken from the message delivered to the shepherds in the fields as they kept watch over their flocks (Luke 2:8-11). "Joy to the World, " the birth of the Savior was an event that should bring joy to all that hear it. The fact is that the world has been in a joyous season from that very night in the City of David when the Savior was born. This news was particularly joyous to the Jewish people because they had been anxiously awaiting a Savior that would deliver them from their trials (Jer. 50:6, Micah 5:2). However, the Jewish people did not expect the Savior to come as a lowly son of a carpenter. The Savior that they were looking for was supposed to be a mighty ruler, someone of royalty. Due to these ideas, many never experienced the hope and joy that the Savior brought to the world. What a privilege we have today to be able to see through scripture the plan that God had in mind for the Savior of the world. We have just as much reason today to be full of great joy. The angels announced to the shepherds that they brought good news, of great joy, to all people, not just a nation. This news should bring joy to all of us. Yet in spite of this news that brings great joy, some are not joyous. Statistics show that Christmas brings much sorrow to many, people are lonely, depressed and suicides increase. A season that should bring joy, seems to produce pain and heartache. Why? I believe it is because we put hope in the wrong things. We place hope in relationships and finances, but people and paychecks let us down. Christmas has become less about a Savior and more about us. Instead of focusing on the hope that we have in Christ we hope for other things. By putting hope in Christ, our joy may be full. Psalm 16:11 says, "You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." In Philippians 4:11-13, the Apostle Paul states that he has learned to be satisfied in whatever condition he is in because his strength comes from Christ, and Nehemiah 8:10 states that the "joy of the Lord is our strength." Because of Christ we can have joy. We may lack relationships, money and perfect health, but we can be full of joy because Christ provides hope to overcome the challenges of this life. Isaiah 26:3 says, "You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in You." During this Christmas season, I would like to encourage you to focus on Christ, trust Him and experience the fullness of His joy by keeping your mind "stayed" on Him.

Positioning Yourself for Victory!
Posted: 09/12/06 at 11:04 AM
Take a look at 2 Chronicles 20:1-17, It is the story of King Jehoshaphat. He received some tough news that his enemies had banded together to fight against him. This was the biggest challenge that King Jehoshaphat had faced. At first he became afraid but verses 3&4 states that he proclaimed a fast and sought the Lord. A fast means that he obstained from other activities to seek revelation and direction from God. This is key to positioning yourself for victory. We face battles most every day and from time to time we will be attacked with situations that may be bigger than anything we have ever faced. However, the biggest things we face in this life are still small to God! Note in verse 6-9 Jehoshaphat recognizes the awesome attributes of God--"power and might are in Your hand and no one can stand against You." Like Jehoshaphat, we should realize that our mouth will position us for victory or defeat! As Jehoshaphat sought the Lord his answer came, see 2 Chron. 20:15-17, the Lord said, "Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's." The Lord desires to show Himself strong on our behalf. Note verse 17, "You do not have to fight this battle. POSITION YOURSELVES, STAND STILL, AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD!" When you feel like you are being attacked on all sides, do as Jehoshaphat did and seek the Lord for direction and don't focus on the problem but on the strength of the Lord to help you in every situation. May you be positioned for victory today and always, Pastor Ron

Super Sock Sunday-Aug 27 & Sept 3
Posted: 08/18/06 at 6:48 AM
The Light is planning another outreach to support school children in our community. After speaking to Teresa Roth of the Willis Clothing Closet we found that they are in desperate need of socks and undergarments for children. She said they receive lots of clothes throughout the year, but rarely donations of new socks and underwear! Here's where The Light family comes in...for 2 Sundays we will collect packages of new children's socks, underwear(size 3-12) and pull-ups (2T-5T). Remember Jesus' words in Acts 20:35 "It is more blessed to give than to receive!" Be a part of giving to the community! Shining His Light, Ava Bates

Jesus Came to Save
Posted: 08/09/06 at 3:49 PM
In 1 Timothy 1:15, Paul writing to Timothy saying, "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief." We can see that Jesus came to save but do we really understand the fullness of what He has saved us from? The Greek word used in this scripture for "save" us sozo (sode-zo) which literally means to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue us from danger and destruction. When we fully understand the meaning of this scripture we can see that Jesus is our Savior from spiritual death and also to rescue us from anything that would destroy us. John 10:10 tells us that Satan came to steal, kill and to destroy but, Jesus came that we may have abundant life. Keep in mind that Jesus saved us from destruction and death more than 2000 years ago. This means that we have the right to have abundant life today. When we accept Jesus as the Savior He saves us from spiritual death. He also becomes the giver of abundant life. We need to trust and rely on Jesus for salvation from death, sickness and poverty. Throughout the Bible, we see that during Jesus' ministry on earth He saved people from physical destruction as well as spiritual destruction, Matthew 9:1-8. 1 Corinthians 6:1-2 tells us not to receive the grace of God in vain, now is the accepted time and now is the day of salvation. Don't miss out on the fullness of your salvation. Believe and accept Jesus as the one who can save you from spiritual, physical or financial destruction. Philippians 4:19 states that "God shall supply all of our needs (not our greed) according to his riches and Glory." God knows what we need, he has the riches we need and is willing to supply for our need.
Free Back to School Haircuts

On Sunday, Aug. 13, (following Sunday morning service at Lynn Lucas Middle School) 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. We will host free Back to School haircuts for school age children. Licensed cosmetologists who attend The Light Community Fellowship have agreed to provide this outreach for the community. "Haircuts cost a lot, especially if you have a big family. We want to give this gift to our community and there's nothing like a great haircut to help a child feel good about themselves at schooltime. We have a great working relationship with WISD and they are allowing us to spread the word at class registration next week. We thank the Lord for this opportunity to serve Willis families in this manner," said Pastor Ron Bates. The Light will also be hosting a drawing for a Limo ride on their 1st day of school. The winner will be allowed to bring 6 of their friends on their winning ride to school. All guests will be picked up at the winner's house and driven to school.

Would you oppose God?
Posted: 07/12/06 at 6:18 AM
I would think that no one would actually want to be in opposition to God. However, we may oppose God and not be aware of it. James 3:8-12 describes how man cannot tame the tongue, out of our mouths will come blessings and cursings and this should not be done. You may say, " I wouldn't curse someone!" A curse doesn't mean that you mix a potion or cast a spell. A curse simply means to wish evil upon someone. To bless means to wish, pronounce favor or happiness over someone. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has "good plans" for his people, not "evil plans." He desires His people to be blessed, this should also be our desire. We shouldn't only desire blessings for ourselves, but for others as well. If we are cursing others, then we are not in agreement with God's intended purpose for them. By cursing we put ourselves in direct opposition with God. You may ask, "But what if they are treating me badly?" Luke 6:28 says, "Bless those that curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use or persecute you." In order to not be in opposition with God we need to practice speaking blessings and not cursing. Our words can turn situations around. Proverbs 18:21 states, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." Death and life are also in the power of a loaded pistol. If you had a loaded pistol in your hand you would be very careful how you handled it. You would keep your finger off the trigger and be careful where you pointed it. Just as the care we would give to a pistol would prevent or cause death to our physical bodies, the tongue can bring death or life in the spiritual realm. It is God's nature to give life and our words should be in agreement with God's words. I want to encourage you to speak blessing, pronounce favor and happiness over someone today! I would not want anyone to be on the opposing side of God. ~Shining His Light, Pastor Ron

Honor Your Mother and Father
Posted: 06/23/06 at 11:58 AM
Honor your Father and Mother

In Genesis chapter 20, the fifth commandment tells us to "honor our father and mother." One of the best ways we can do this is through good behavior. Family lineage was very important in biblical times, not that it isn't important today, but in ancient culture, family history and reputation could make the difference between success or poverty. Even today our behavior reflects on our parents positively or negatively. As parents, it brings us great pleasure and honor when our children's behavior is recognized as being good. In the same way our behavior as Christians reflects on our heavenly Father. Matthew 5:13 tells us to "let our light shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven." The word "honor" in the Hebrew language is kabad, which means "to make heavy, add to or promote, bring value to and glorify." When our behavior is good it promotes the reputation, brings value to and glorifies God. When people see us acting like Christians should be acting, it adds value and validity to the message of the gospel. In Malachi 1:6, God spoke through Malachi concerning the behavior of the priests. It reads, "A son honors his father and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is my honor...?" The priests had become lazy and disobedient. They were not offering to God the best offerings as instructed. We too can become lazy in our behavior and not give God the best we have to offer. We all need to realize how important it is to give our best to our Heavenly Father and honor Him with the way we act. When we claim to be Christians and people see our good behavior, this will give honor to our Heavenly Father. ~Pastor Ron Bates

Kid's Camp--a treasure to remember
Posted: 06/09/06 at 7:32 AM
The Light's first kid's camp "Treasure Island" concluded yesterday. It was 4 days and 3 nights of fun and learning about God's love and discovering the greatest treasure we can ever have is life in Christ Jesus. We taught from I Corinthians 13--the major areas we hit were God's love is giving, God's love is kind, God's love is caring, God's love is forgiving, and God's love is forever! Our theme came in handy when teaching life lessons to the kids throughout the day and as they experienced different activities (i.e, a child trying to cut in line--remember that Love is Kind--is it kind to cut in line?) Every child received a coin with the chapel theme imprinted on it and the memory verse stamped into it. They then placed it into their treasure boxes they created during art time. Every child can tell their parents what was taught. We had reviews each night and were so blessed by their responses! It's so rewarding when you know that a child really "got it!" The kid's also enjoyed treasure hunts, pirate wars, swimming, crafts, camp bingo, zip line, rock wall, blobbing, water wars, beach ball pool parties, slip n slides, hikes, camp fire singing w/ ooey-gooey smores and more! Lives are changed at Summer Camp and we saw walls in children's lives come down---we watched as they chose life in Christ, love, made new friends, gained confidence and more! Summer Camp is always a time of growing and discovery for all the adult counselors as well. I was so incredibly blessed by the children and all the wonderful counselors. Thank you for making camp so great! We're looking forward to next year's camp, already themed "Cowboy Camp!" It will be rootin' tootin' hallelutin' time! With joy in Christ, Ava

On Friday, May 19 the anticipated blockbuster, "The Da Vinci Code," will hit theatres across America. Some of the inaccurate accounts and questions purported by the book and movie are: That Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene, together they bore a child, the real historical record has been suppressed, there is a secret society keeping Jesus' bloodline hidden, Jesus really wanted Mary Magdeline to be the head of the church but was pushed out by power-hungry men, and that the divinity of Jesus was a fabrication of a 4th century church council. To the Christian and any student of the Bible and church history these claims are not only false but heresy. I recommend an excellent book by Lee Strobel titled, "Exploring the Da Vinci Code." Lee takes every inaccuracy detailed in the book, researches and refutes its claims. The Da Vinci Code is yet another attempt to attack the gospel of Jesus Christ and weaken the Church. As Christians, it's our job to shed light where there's confusion. Ephesians 5:6-7 "Let no one decieve you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them." The Apostle Paul also wrote in Romans 16:17, "No I urge you brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple." I urge Christians and anyone who wishes to know the truth to read Lee Strobel's book "Exploring the Da Vinci Code," examine the scriptures, pray for the Father to reveal His truth to you, and you will be protected/set free from any deception.

Who's in Charge?
Posted: 05/10/06 at 4:56 PM
The answer to this question may not be as easy as you think. Many times the person with the title is not the one in charge, usually the one with the greater influence will actually be the one in charge and will take the lead. This is also true in our Christian life. As human beings, we are often ruled by our flesh. In other words, our flesh is in charge and we tend to do whatever we "feel" like doing. However, the Bible instructs us to be lead by our spirit (Galatians 5:16-18). As Christians we have the spirit of God inside of us and should allow the Spirit of God to lead and direct our behavior. But often our flesh as a greater enfluence over our behavior. Learning to allow God's Spirit to lead requires knowledge and practice. As we read God's Word we can gain the understanding of God's nature and how we should behave. Knowledge alone isn't enough. We need to learn to resist the temptations of our flesh and allow our spirit to take charge (1 Peter 4:1-2). This means we will need to do what is right even when we don't feel like it. Romans 12:2 tells us not to be conformed to this world, which means, don't think and act like non-believers, but that we should change our thinking and do what is acceptable to God. In 1 Corinthians 9:27, Paul tells us that he "disciplines his body so that he can be ruled by the spirit." This type of practice will allow our spirit to be in charge. When we are ruled by the Spirit of God that is in us and resist the temptations of the flesh our behavior will be pleasing to God. So, put into practice the knowledge of God's word, resist the desires of your flesh and let the Spirit of God be in charge of your life. ~~Pastor Ron Bates

A tale of two sons
Posted: 04/16/06 at 9:49 PM
In Luke 15:11-32, Jesus tells a story to illustrate the nature of God and His kingdom. The story is about two sons and their father. The story would be a great one with just one son. With the younger son we see God's unconditional love. The son is disrespectful to his father, leaves home and wastes his inheritance. However, the father accepts him back into the family, running to greet him upon his return. What a beautiful picture of the unconditional love God has towards us. We can all probably relate to the younger son. But, what about the other son? We cannot overlook the fact that Jesus spoke of two sons. You might say that the older son was the "good son". He was a hard worker and was obedient to the father. (vs 25,29) However, the older son had some issues to be dealt with as well. He lacked love and understanding for his brother. The older son was jealous of the attention his brother was getting. To his complaints, the father reminded the older son that, "all that I have is yours." Unlike the younger son, the elder brother overlooked the fact that the Father was more than able to meet any need and grant any request. The older son was doing the work of his Father but, he wasn't walking in love. We too may be busy in our Christian walk but, we should be aware that without love we have nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:1,2) Also, instead of complaining about our situations, we should realize that God is more than able to meet our needs. All we need to do is ask. So, we can learn from both sons. We are never too far away to return and never too close that evaluation and adjustment are not needed. ~~Pastor Ron Bates

Fellowship with God
Posted: 04/08/06 at 10:51 AM
Would you like to have fellowship and interact with God? Actually, He wants to be with you. In fact God "desires" to be with His people. In Exodus 25 we read that God gave instructions to Moses to build a temple. The purpose of the temple was so God could dwell with His people (vs 8). The rule was put in place that the temple was to be clean or free of sin and undefiled. God is holy and cannot be in the presense of sin. Because of Jesus, God's presence is able to move from a man-made temple to our hearts (1 Corinthians 3:16). Just as the man-made temple was to be free of sin and undefiled, so must our hearts be clean. 1 John 1:6,7 says. "If we say we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleases us from all sin." When we beleive in our heart and confess that God sent His Son to die for our sin, we are clean (John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, 1 John 1:9). Walk in the light of God's Word, don't allow the darkness of sin to defile the temple of God in you so you may have fellowship with God the Father. Pastor Ron Bates
Show Me the Love
Posted: 04/08/06 at 10:09 AM
Saying we love God is easy, but how do we show it? Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind." (Matthew 22:37) There's an old saying, "actions speak louder than words" this saying holds true. I know of three actions that can show one's love towards God--- obedience, sacrifice and loyalty. Jesus said in John 14:15, "If you love me you will obey my commandments." Obedience to God's Word is better than empty words. Also, when we make sacrifices to do God's will instead of our own, we show our love to God. You see, love is a choice to do the right thing even if we don't feel like it. God's
Word tells us that denying our own will is our reasonable service. (Romans 12:1) Finally, when we are loyal to God alone we show our love, loyalty is unconditional love. We must have the attitude that, "no matter what," we will be loyal to God. Matthew 6:24 tells us, "we can't serve two masters. We will be loyal to one and despise the other." God has this same attitude toward us. Romans 8:38,39 says "nothing can seperate us from the love of God." God has shown us His love by being obedient to His own Word (2 Corinthians 1:20), sacrificing His own Son (John 3:16) and being loyal to us with His love. Let your actions show Him your love. You can rely on God
Posted: 03/08/06 at 9:16 AM
Have you ever done something challenging, like move from one home to another, and have people say, "you should have called me!?" All of us probably have freinds we can rely on when we need them. The problem is that people are limited to things such as availibility, resources and physical limitations. When we go through difficult situations in life without relying on God, He also can say, "Why didn't you call me?" We need to realize that God is there for us when we need Him and He is not limited in His abilities! But, so often we fail to call on Him for help. In 2 Chronicles 16, Asa, King of Judah, failed to call on God for help and God reprimands him for the mistake of not relying on Him. In verse 9 God explained why He was displeased. God said that He "looks all over to find a way that He might show Himself strong on behalf of those who are loyal to Him." You see, when we call on God, He can show Himself strong when He delivers us from our difficult situations. Don't have God say to you, "Why didn't you call me? Realize that God is looking for ways to help you so He can show Himself strong! --Pastor Ron Bates (excerpt from Sunday sermon, 02/26/06)

Calling all saints
Posted: 02/21/06 at 5:59 PM
When you think of a saint you may picture someone with a halo suspended over their head or a statue in some catheral. The fact is that if you are a born again Christian, then you are one of the saints of God. Being a saint doesn't give a person the right to demand respect or expect reverence. With "sainthood' comes responsibilities. Ephesians 4:12 tells us that the saints are to do the "work of the ministry". Ministry was not meant for a few chosen saints. All saints have a responsibility to minister. As a saint we have a responsibility to Grow, Go and Sow. 1 Peter 2:2 tells us to "desire the Word so we may grow." If we are to become mature Christians and begin to minister to others we must grow in knowledge of the Word of God. As we grow we are expected to "go". Secondly, Mark 16:15 tells us that we are to "go into all the world and preach the gospel." This does not mean that everyone is to pack their bags and head for a third world country. But it does mean that we have a responsibility to go tell others about Christ. We can tell others about Christ in our schools, jobs and communities. Thirdly, we need to sow seed. When we live a life that represents Christ and share our faith with others we are sowing seeds of faith in others. Mark 4:26 explains that "the kingdom of heaven is as if a man scatters seed and that the seed starts to grow;" the man does not know how it grows. We may never know how our words will produce friut in the lives of others but, we must sow that seed in faith. I want to encourage all the saints of God to Grow, Go, and Sow---and see what God can do in you and for those around you. --Pastor Ron Bates {excerpt from Sunday sermon 2/19/06} undefined

In God's Presence
Posted: 02/09/06 at 6:45 PM
Wouldn't it be great if we could actually be in the presence of God? The fact is that God desires to be in our presence. In Exodus 25 God told the children of Israel to build a temple so that He could dwell among His people. God desires to be with us. We were created by God for His pleasure. In the temple where God dwelt there were specific instructions on how to keep the temple Holy, the temple was not to be defiled, no unclean thing could enter it. God could not dwell in the presence of any "unclean" or unholy thing. We read in John 2:18 that Jesus said He was going to destroy the temple and build it back in 3 days, He was not talking about rebuilding a physical temple but was talking about a spiritual temple. Jesus' death allowed God's presence to move from a "man-made temple" made with hands to a "temple" not made with hands, "our spirit." When Jesus died on the cross (Mark 15:38) we read that the curtain in the temple that separated God's presence from the people was torn in two. This symbolizes how we can have access to God. His Spirit can dwell in our spirit now through Jesus' death. When we become Born Again, God literally dwells with us. In the same way that the man-made temple was to be holy we are required to keep our temple (spirit) holy where God dwells. The apostle Paul addresses this in I Cor 3:16,17 "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" Because of Jesus' sacrifice we can have forgiveness of sin and create a holy temple for God to dwell in with us. I John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness," creating a holy temple for His Spirit to dwell with us!

Want to learn more about Faith?
Posted: 01/26/06 at 11:01 AM
Do you want to please God? The Bible says that "without faith it is impossible to please God." Faith is simply believing in God's Word and His promises. Our mind tries to filter God's Word. We need to learn how to get God's Word past our mind, into our spirits (heart) and then out of our mouth. This will cause us to live as the Bible instructs us to live which is..."by faith and not by sight." Come to The Light this week (1/29) and learn more about the Biblical principle of faith.
Pastor Ron's Blog-The First Service!
Posted: 01/10/06 at 9:01 AM
What a great time we had worshipping our Father! Thank you to everyone who helped Shine His Light by helping the ministry go forward--from the musicians to the nursery team members, your leadership was appreciated! God exceeded our expectations with 212 people for our first service. My message was titled "Looking Ahead" and I taught out of Hebrews 12.

Also noted was that the music mix was a little loud. We'll be sure to have that adjusted by next service. Thank you for your patience as we tweak the decibel level of our song services.

Ava & I were blessed by the loving response from friends (many of whom we had not seen in years) and we are excited about all the new acquaintances. We look forward to getting to know each other better over time and serving you in the Lord Jesus. Please be in prayer for the days ahead for The Light, for wisdom, for grace as we are very much aware of the responsibility of shepherding this flock. We see ourselves as servant leaders who see ministry as a divine priviledge. Thanks for being a part and invite someone to The Light this week! In Christ, Pastor Ron
Dear Friends and Neighbors

We're living in a day in which more and more people are realizing the importance of belonging to a church family. They're discovering the support and positive power for living that comes from being connected to a God that loves them and people who care about them. They're finding out that spiritual things matter.

The Light is going to be a place that worships the Lord in Spirit and truth! A place where the truth of God's Word is taught and illuminates our very being.

If you don't currently have a church home, please accept this as an invitation to visit as we launch The Light Community Fellowship on January 8th, 2006.
